BDP is the English abbreviation of the new phosphorus-based flame retardant bisphenol A bis(diphenyl phosphate).
BDP is a colorless or light yellow transparent liquid, relative density 1.26 (20 °C), phosphorus content 8.9%, toxic LD50=5000mg/kg, viscosity (25 °C mPa.s): 17000. Phosphate ester flame retardant is a kind of halogen-free, low-smoke, low-toxicity environmentally friendly flame retardant, which has good compatibility with polymers and is widely used. However, most of the phosphate esters are liquid, small molecular weight, high volatility, low heat resistance affect its flame retardant effect and flame retardant persistence, and large molecular weight, high phosphorus content, symmetrical double phosphate can overcome the above defects, BDP is one of the most representative halogen-free aryl phosphate.
Compared with traditional non-polymerized flame retardants, BDP has good flame retardancy, good compatibility with polymer substrates, migration resistance, volatile resistance, and long-lasting flame retardant effect. It is a class of new products that began to appear in the late 80s and early 90s. As an additive flame retardant for polymers, it has been widely valued and widely used in polymers due to its unique chemical combination and mechanical properties, showing good thermal stability in polymers and extraordinary flame retardant properties. Suitable for the production of flame retardant PC/ABS alloy, flame retardant HIPS/PPO alloy and flame retardant PC. It can compete with brominated flame retardants on flame retardant PC/ABS alloys. It can be used to manufacture flame retardant PC/ABS and PC/PPO alloys for computer monitors and printer shells and some internal components.
When flame retardant PC/ABS with 18-21% addition, the flame retardant level of the material can reach UL 94 V-0. It has good notched impact strength. BDP is also widely used in flame retardant PVC, cellulose resin, synthetic rubber, phenolic resin, epoxy resin, polyester fiber. And it is also a flame retardant of lubricating oil esters, extreme pressure wear resistant agent.
